Leipzig, Ger
Alright, so we've been in Leipzig for two days now and not much is going on. Actually spent most of today sleeping because we were all so exhausted from the first half of the trip. That's all fine and great with me, I want to have as much energy for Berlin as possible. So excited.
Also! Oh my god, there are sirens here ALL the time! And we've figured out that half the time, they are coming from what looks to be large tow truck things, not police cars or ambulances. So frequent. Computer access here is limited, so I have to get off soon. The computer only gives us 20 min sessions. Hoping that Berlin will have something I can use for pictures. Until then!

Praha
update from iPod touch. much less computer access in prague, bad. Korean tv channel in hotel, good. I wouldn't count on any photos for a couple days. just know that excellent ones are being taken. first impresssions of Prague: a little crusty around the edges but intensely cultural and beautiful on the inside. too bad I don't speak a hint of Czech. the linguist in me wants to just absorb it all and learn as much as possible. we shall see what two days will get me. bye!

Vienna :: days 1,2
Based on how quickly today went by, I have a feeling that this trip is going to over far too soon!
While today was much better than yesterday (due to the fact that we were not all dying of extreme jet-lag) I'm still completely exhausted.
8 hour flight, not so bad. Losing an entire day due to time difference, very strange.
Finally arrived in Vienna yesterday morning and it pretty much looked like a ghost town. Hardly anyone was wandering the streets, nothing was open, I was beginning to question all that I had read about the place. Apparently, I had not read that 6 January is a very big holiday in Austria (as our city guide so kindly explained) on which everything is closed. Even so, we still managed a city tour, the Vienna Opera house tour, lunch at a medicore Italian restaurant, a tour of Mozarthaus and a few rides on the U1 (the Vienna metro). Serious sleeping commenced.
Continental breakfast here definitely blows anything I've had in the US out of the water. So tasty! Coffees, jams, granola, several sorts of eggs, rolls, nutella (!), meats, cheese. yum yum. There was even champagne for orange juices. Yes, basically, breakfast= the best. After said meal, we toured the Vienna Royal Palace and had a pseudo photo shoot in the gardens (which was basically Pemberly from Pride and Prejudice, pictures to come). Uhher, after that we had a free hour- scarves and chinese food- then off to Beethoven's apartment. After a quick visit to the Royal Cathedral and Library, we headed back to the hotel for class (in which I fell asleep). With limited time, a few of us headed back downtown for the night just to wander around for a bit. Stumbled upon a sketchy cafe with some sketchy antics going on within. Clearly made it back alive, and now here I am. Sleepy and looking forward to another exciting breakfast tomorrow, I leave you now (it is nearly 12:30am here).
Tchuss!
